Jewelry Retail Space in Germany Enhanced with Plated Brass

Banker Wire’s Decorative Wire Mesh Emphasizes Craftsmanship and High-Quality Materials

January 18, 2018

MUKWONAGO, WI —JANUARY 18, 2018— The Hunke Jewelers and Opticians, a newly opened retail store in Ludwigsburg, Germany, showcases a stunning, sustainable and modern space. The interior design of the Hunke Jewelers provides an authentic background for the products on display, emphasising craftsmanship and high-quality materials such as decorative wire mesh from Banker Wire, the world's leading manufacturer of woven and welded wire mesh for architectural and industrial applications.

For many years, the Hunke family has been operating a successful jewellery and optician business within the inner city of Ludwigsburg, located near Stuttgart. To retain their leading position in the region’s market, the family decided to consolidate all three of their retail stores—which comprise jewellery, watch and optician departments—into one space. At the request of the owners, Ippolito Fleitz Group, a Stuttgart-based interior design firm, incorporated both their family tradition and the building’s history into the space. The design firm turned to German fabricator Hasselwander to create a vertical surfacing application that created a standout look for this project.

The spacious jewelry section of Hunke Jewelry is clad with floor-to-ceiling decorative wire mesh in brass, welcoming customers with a subdued elegance. Banker Wire’s antique brass plated S-12 decorative wire mesh was interplayed with smooth marble surfaces and a flowing curtain to create a relaxed atmosphere. The secondary finished wire mesh adds a beautiful and subtle movement to the space while giving a soft glint from the reflecting lights. The S-12 decorative mesh pattern is a robust mesh that can be woven in stainless or plain steel. When a secondary finish is applied, S-12’s texture stands out in brilliant detail.

“This project is a great example of how woven wire mesh can really enhance a space and complement a designer’s vision,” said Harrison Horan, Vice President of Banker Wire. “The tight weave gives the cladding a very sophisticated and detailed aesthetic, which mirrors the high-quality product sold within the store.”

About Architectural Woven Wire Mesh
Pre-crimped woven wire mesh is constructed of individual wires that are crimped prior to being woven together on a loom. Pre-crimping the wires provides a much higher degree of control during the weaving process. This allows for far more intricate and interesting patterns, as well as unique customization, to meet the vision of the designer. Banker Wire has refined and innovated its crimping process more than any other manufacturer, delivering more than 8,000 different spacing, diameter, and crimp combinations, plus endless customization options. As a result, Banker can make any woven wire mesh pattern imaginable – manufactured to specify for any project type.
