Banker Wire Nears Completion of Facility Addition
MUKWONAGO, Wis., December 20, 2011 Banker Wire is on target to complete construction of a new 50,000-square-foot addition to its manufacturing facility by the end of December. Work on the project began August 21. The addition will expand the company’s facility by almost 50 percent, to a total of 160,000 square feet. Anderson Ashton, Inc. of New Berlin, Wis., is the general contractor providing design and construction for the project.
“We’ve seen steady growth for the past several years and a solid increase in the use of wire mesh products, both functionally and aesthetically,” said Harrison Horan, vice president of sales and marketing at Banker Wire. “The new addition will provide us with the room we need to keep growing with our customers. We also plan to bring additional wire mesh weaving capacity on line in order to keep up with customer demand and ensure on-time delivery.”
In 2009, after acquiring a new building and 20 acres of land, Banker Wire relocated from Muskego, Wis., to its present location in Mukwonago, Wis. The move enabled the company to consolidate from three buildings into one, gain an immediate 10,000 to 15,000 square feet of additional space, and position itself for the type of growth and expansion it is now experiencing.
Banker Wire was established in 1896 by Charles Banker as C.I. Banker Wire & Iron Works. Located in Milwaukee’s 5th Ward, the company originally built wrought iron and wire products used for fire escapes and bank-teller cages. Today, Banker Wire employs nearly 100 people and is the world’s leading manufacturer of woven and welded wire mesh for industrial and architectural applications.
