Chaya Downtown in Los Angeles, California recently won the 2009 Restaurant Design Awards presented by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Banker Wire S-16 architectural woven wire mesh was chosen for use as a banquette divider for reasons described by the designer below:

"The bronze wire mesh screen worked perfectly for our intentions on the interior of the space. The typical banquette divider is glass, giving some separation, but allowing the space to remain 'open.' The Banker Wire weave worked in the same way, but with true class. As you can see in the picture, it filters the content on the other side, hinting at the activity like lingerie, but still providing a sense of privacy for those dining next to it. The brass was the other component that worked really well with our design. The restaurant has a large exterior blade of a canopy that pierces the interior of the restaurant. The underside of that canopy is a reddish Spanish Brass. The Banker woven wire bronze allowed us to connect the dots."

Stainless steel M44-7 wire mesh is used to create interest in the background of this stage set of HBO’s Treme Season 2. The multifaceted crimp of the 4 individual woven wires sparkle as the panels are accented with lighting from above. The entrance to this restaurant is also divided by a privacy screen framed by wood. The unique construction of the M44-7 wire mesh weave allows for an interesting transparency between each of the individual woven wires. It is the collective space between the pattern as well as the wires that gives the M44-7 a one of a kind 34% open area.

Award-winning steakhouse Carnevino, already a popular restaurant destination in Las Vegas, was looking to make an immediate impression for diners at its newest location in Hong Kong. The goal was to create a high-end luxury steakhouse accented with details inspired from vintage racing motifs. To turn this vision into reality, Carnevino’s designers utilized wire mesh from Banker Wire, giving the décor key metal finishes that fit perfectly with the race-inspired machine aesthetic.

Banker Wire’s DS-1, SZ-4 and IPZ-25 mesh styles were chosen for this project and used throughout the restaurant as a background accent material for stone, metal, and leather paneling. The use of wire mesh helped bring depth and texture to Carnevino’s walls, providing a visual experience that conveys luxury and richness.

“Creating a warm, inviting ambience is a top priority for Carnevino and plays a huge part in providing its guests with the ultimate dining experience,” said Cliff Lin, Senior Designer at New York-based architectural firm, AvroKO, which oversaw the project. “We chose Banker Wire mesh due to its quality and reputation as a leading manufacturer of unique wire materials. The wire mesh we used helped breathe life into the décor and brought the overall palette together in a truly rich manner.”

“The versatility of woven wire mesh makes it a perfect accent material for premiere dining establishments like Carnevino,” said Harrison Horan, Vice President of Banker Wire. “By utilizing three different wire meshes at its new Hong Kong location, diners will enjoy a unique visual experience that will set Carnevino apart from other restaurants in the area.”
