Designed by Anderson Brule Architects, 80 feet of railing was built for the monumental stairway and balcony, which includes more than 70 cast bronze and glass elements. Imagery in the work is drawn from the natural and agricultural history of the region. Banker's stainless steel mesh was chosen by artists Andrea Myklebust and Stanton G. Sears. The Versatile Spine's outside edge had a series of bump outs that would key into the surrounding flat bar slots. When installed, the frames were simply plugged in place like a jigsaw puzzle allowing the two dissimilar metals to be dry fit.
